I Love Goooold! (...as only Goldmember can say it...)

27 October 2008

I've been avoiding the task of deciding on our wedding color palette for the better part of a year. I realize by not having official colors, I am making it harder on myself; not to mention that having our colors would really help to tie the design details together. I need to start figuring this out!

We are getting married during the early summer season. While I love both pastels and bright colors, our reception room at the Biltmore (called the Gold Room) is very traditional and ornate. I personally think the room's aesthetics are more conducive to neutral colors: white, off-white, black or possibly a deep red. Here is a less than flattering picture of the Gold Room. It really is very dramatic and spectacular in person.

Anyway, while leafing through a copy of Martha Stewart Weddings, I was taken with a spread called "The Golden Touch". Because I am aiming for the theme of vintage flair and, due to the fact that the Gold Room lives up to its name and is heavy on the gold, simple golden accents would be perfect to highlight the room. But it has to be done right. I'm getting into unfamiliar territory with yellow gold...one wrong move and I could fall into tacky waters.

Here are some MS Wedding pictures to help me with inspiration.

I love the idea of gold (with light accents, such as ivory). It would match many decors, yours included!
