This article broke my heart in half.
You may have seen it, as it was on the front page of msn.com via the Wall Street Journal. Children are asking Santa questions like, "Can you get daddy his job back?" or "May I have eyeglasses so I can see the chalkboard?" I don't know how the Santas keep their composure. I would be a blubbering mess. It's hard to think of children feeling pressure and stress over such things.
Sometimes when I talk to my mom or my grandma, we discuss how much harder times are today than they were back then. Globalization and increased competition for anything and everything. It feels like this planet is somehow rotating faster than it did ten, fifteen, thirty years ago. Life can be tough. Life can be unfair. But think about all of these children. (And we're just talking about American children.) They're so young, and already they are feeling the effects of difficult realities.
It makes me want to give a little more, and complain a little less.
Happy Holidays to you all. Have a wonderful weekend! Enjoy yourselves.
