For all of my fashionista readers, I’m sure checking Gilt Groupe is a part of your daily routine like wearing eye cream or brushing your teeth. But here’s my history with Gilt. I joined more than a year ago when I read about it on Weddingbee. All the cool girls were doing it. I am not really one to do too much online shopping. (I always worry that items won’t fit, and I’m too lazy to return them). So I joined and let my account sit dormant this whole time. I receive daily e-mails about Gilt Groupe sales, and I usually delete them. If you added it up, I have probably spent 2 or 3 full days of my life deleting Gilt emails. But a couple of weeks ago, I read that they were having a sale on Sperry Top-sider’s. Ok, I know you’re probably thinking, “Carly’s really a 65 year old preppy grandpa, run for the hills.” But please bear with me.
My little brother and my husband have been known to like Sperry’s, so I popped on thinking it was a men’s sale. What do you know? It was a WOMEN’s sale. Umm, the last time I checked the only woman I know who wore Sperry’s was my aunt who wears them with her Eddie Bauer tapered leg mom jeans, and man sweaters tied around her shoulders. This aunt and I don’t get along, so I therefore don’t feel bad putting her fashion pitfalls on blast.
But anyway, I was surprised to find I was wrong about my ‘dowdy’ assumption, and found these cute Camden wedges for, get this, $29!! I was sold on them, especially after these puppies were in “another member’s cart”. I felt really powerful when they let them go, and I swooped them up. It’s all a mind game, no?

They arrived a few days ago, and this picture doesn’t really do them justice. They are super adorable! They aren’t overly preppy (which I feared), and would be simply adorable for Sunday brunch with a white shirt and skinny jeans.

So there you have it. My Gilt cherry wasn’t popped by Marc Jacobs. It was popped by Sperry Top-siders. I’m cool like that.

I was going to try and be all clever and ask people if they wanted an exclusive Gilt “invite” so that I could get a discount if they signed up. But I see they’ve stopped doing that and now everyone can join. Oh poo.

Any Gilt Group(ies) out there?
