The supermarket is a great place to judge social behavior. A lot goes down within those stocked aisles. I’ll admit it. I judge people.

When you hit me with your cart and don’t say “excuse me” or “sorry”, I judge you.

When you stand in the 15 item or less check-out with 25 items, I judge you.

When you cut in line at the deli counter, I see you cut…then I judge you. The worst offenders are the ones who say, “Oh, there’s a line?!” No, there’s no line. All of us are just standing here in line formation with our thumbs up our butts for our health.

But never have I felt such a strong urge to bop someone on the head until I was confronted in the salad bar by this bozo.

That’s right. I got all OMGMom on his ass, and got cell phone picture proof.

This guy had the balls to stick his dirty ass mitts directly into the food bins. The same salad bar that I happened to be at.

Did my presence stop his freeloading? Absolutely not.

At first I thought he was just sampling something for taste. Wrong.

The guy came back time and time again. While I was there, he served himself at least six times. He did it in front of the lady re-stocking the salad bar, the guy making sushi, and various other customers.

The nerve!

I shot him a few dirty looks, but didn’t say anything. I was too busy standing there stunned and taking stealthy pictures. After I finished my picture-taking, the thief was gone for good. Maybe he was full? Or maybe he was off to Costco to hog down on some samples?

What would you have said to/thought about the salad bar thief?

Like you, I would not have said a thing. I probably would have wished I had the nerve to take a picture! Maybe you should tell the management of the store so they can be aware … and ew, also throw out the stuff after he's been there. I mean, using your bare hands on the salad bar has GOT to be some sort of public health violation.

Oh, and I completely understand your judgin. I totally judge the person in the "15 items or less" line when they have 16 items. Oh, I count. 🙂

Ew. Seeing things like this remind me why I never get anything from the grocery store salad bar. Guh-ross. It's awesome that you took a pic, though. I would have done the same thing!

No, me neither. I would have said nothing. I don't blame the lady at the salad bar for not saying anything either. Too much trouble. And that just might open up his Pandora's box o' crazy. Anyone with that little care for decorum, societal rules, etc. is bound to not think twice about punching a woman in the throat or making her life miserable. Sigh. I hope he got the runs.

That's so crazy! Depending on how deranged he looked, I would have said something or called him out to an employee.
Sigh this reminds me not to visit salad bars.

Gross, I see this ALL the time at Whole Foods (which I find weird b/c I always think of Whole Foods shoppers as very "better than you" so I don't peg them for the salad bar thieving types. Oh, and obviously I too am a judger LOL!)! I too say nothing. I also don't ever buy anything that isn't wrapped up. It's like the bowl of peanuts at the bar, just…yuck. It's such a shame because the olive bar at whole foods is a delectable thing of beauty. I'm just not willing to pay that much money for something I'm certain is swimming in germs. I totally agree with Creature Gorgeous – if someone is already acting that badly, who knows what level of crazy you're dealing with. It's just not worth poking the bear.

Ok…that is just all kinds of wrong. I always wonder how many people take "samples" from the salad bars at stores…stupid punk!
