Henry, age 10 months

I can never spell “dachshund” for the life of me. But regardless of my spelling pitfalls, ever since adopting our short-legged chiweenie, Henry, I have been slightly obsessed with dachshunds. I have been seeing them everywhere. It’s like when you want to get engaged, and everything around you= weddings. Or when you want a kid, and babies are literally peeking out from EVERYWHERE. What’s with that?!

Anyway, I went into Anthropologie just to browse. (Yeah right. Can I ever really just casually stroll in and out of Anthro? That place is deadly.) I came out with a new belt and this adorable doggy ring dish.

Then I saw this on Etsy and just had to share. A vintage brass dachshund! I need it!

I love lamp.

I showed L these pillowcases and he said, “Hell NO”. I think he’s just bitter because he’d have to sleep on a pillowcase with a dog’s ass on it.

Do you have a favorite dog breed? Any pet-themed trinkets? At the rate I’m going I’ll be one of those old ladies with a crochet dachshund tissue box and needlepoint dachshund pillows.

First of all, your pup is precious. My baby Buddy is a blue heeler, but they don't make blue heeler things. Which is why I want to come up with my own Buddy line of items- calendars, greeting cards, giant statues… I'm sure it would be super successful 🙂 That lamp cracks me up!

LOL. I think the brass doxie looks more like a Basset, but still cute. BTW – Kohls has a diamond Doxie pendant http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/jewelry/diamonds/diamondnecklaces/whitegold/PRD~505573/10k+White+Gold+110ct+TW+Diamond+Dachshund+Pendant.jsp that I think is SO adorable! I know this b/c my friend has several doxies, and my sister also has a Chiweenie – they are all too cute!
We have a dog who looks like a Dalmatian (we don't know what she actually is), so on our honeymoon to Disney we collected Dalmatian pins (NOT an easy task). Otherwise I mostly deal in paw print rather than breed trinkets.

my husband and his family are big into dachshunds. We don't collect doxie themed accessories, but that might change if we get our own!

What a cutie pie!! And I agree, you HAD to get that ring holder… how could you NOT?! haha. We have a greyhound and it's rare to come across many greyhound "trinkets". I did come across a plastic greyhound statue at Home Goods a few months ago… so of course I had to get it. My husband snickered at my plastic greyhound, but whatevs… I also just ordered a greyhound print from etsy yesterday!

When I got Clydas, my boxer, I checked out EVERYTHING boxer! My search was a little more difficult since back then most owners cropped their boxer's ears. I felt that practice was cruel and outdated, so I left Clydas' ears floppy.
But it's amazing how many boxers I noticed! They were EVERYWHERE! Or people would come up to me to say "I had a boxer when I was growing up". Since Clydas was my first boxer, it made me feel great! He's still my best buddy.

Oh man, I love it all! Whimsical and quirky and completely delightful! The pillows are incredible. I wish I had a reason to have them. Like a dachsund. Maybe if you negotiate L sleeping on the head side, he wouldn't be so dismissive of the awesome idea?
