This past weekend I had the pleasure of watching Beauty and the Beast on TV. I was super excited about this little treat, because it’s my favorite Disney film of all time. Watching it made me think about how many of my childhood memories are tied to Disney movies.

  • Singing and choreographing a dance to The Little Mermaid‘s “Under the Sea” with my best friends in the back of my mom’s Dodge caravan. My poor mom.
  • Learning every word to every single Aladdin song on a skiing trip with my cousin. My poor uncle, aunt, and teenage boy cousin.
  • Crying my eyes out to Bambi, Dumbo, and The Lion King. Separating a mother or father from their baby gets me every time. Also, I slept with my Thumper stuffed animal for a really long time.
  • My brother pretending he was a dancing card in Alice in Wonderland.
  • Going to see Sleeping Beauty in the movie theater and having countless nightmares about the wicked witch.
  • Wishing Mary Poppins was my nanny, and that I could have her carpetbag. Ahhh, that carpetbag. {sigh}
I could go on for days! I love that my childhood was filled with innocent happiness and carefree fun. I wish I had more of that in my adult life. 😉 If we ever have kiddies, rest assured, they will definitely be introduced to the wonders of Disney!
What is your favorite Disney movie? Don’t even pretend like you didn’t watch Disney. L loves The Little Mermaid. Oh yes, I told them, babe.

Beauty & The Beast is definitely one of my faves too! I'm also a huge fan of Mulan–girl power and all that stuff 😉

E and I are huge disney fans as well, and plan to show our kids all the movies. Beauty and the Beast has always been my favorite. I also watched the movie on TV this weekend. 🙂 We even used the song in our wedding slideshow (E's idea!)

E's favorite movie is The Little Mermaid, but we also love a lot of the old classics.
My childhood was built a lot around the disney culture and has so many fun memories – the first movie I ever saw in a theater was Pocahontas!

He he he… I write for a Disney World Fan Magazine, and we're getting married in Disney's Animal Kingdom next year, so I'm pretty well versed in Disney movies! Brother Bear is one of my favorite Disney movies of all time (highly under rated!) In the classics, Lady and the Tramp is up there. Beauty and the Beast is BEAUTIFUL, and My Sailor's fav is Aladdin. 🙂

Hands down Peter Pan was my favorite Disney flick followed closely by The Little Mermaid. I have so many lovely memories of childhood that center around these and so many of the movies. Thanks for posting this – it provided a sweet trip down memory lane 🙂

I am a Disney movie freak–I still watch them, haha! My favorites are a three way tie between Beauty & the Beast, Sleeping Beauty & Cinderella. I'm a lucky girl in that I own all three–I always ask for Disney movies for Christmas.

In the Disney-Pixar age, my favorite is definitely Ratatouille, followed closely by Finding Nemo & Up. Oh, Disney, you get me every time! 🙂

@J. Darling: I don't think I've ever seen Brother Bear. I can't remember though. Got to put that on my list of must-see films!

@Amy: Oooh, Ratatouille was hilarious! And Finding Nemo was one of our first date movies. 🙂

On Brother Bear – the bigger the screen THE BETTER! 🙂 The music is great (thanks to Phil Collins) and the sequel has some great music too (and it's a Love story – Brother Bear is about a whole different kind of love).

Sleeping Beauty- hands down my favorite. Maleficent [the mistress of darkness!] is my absolute favorite character of all time. Cursing an entire town because she wasn't invited to a birthday party? BAD-ASS! :o)

It is way too hard to pick my favorite – my sister and I loved Disney movies when we were little! Beauty & the Beast, Aladdin & Little Mermaid were probably our favorites 🙂

Growing up, my mom bought all the Disney movies so we could watch them over and over. The only one we didn't own was Sleeping Beauty because I had horrible nightmares too! To this day, I am still slightly afraid of the witch in Sleeping Beauty.
